My Gear Works is a small set of free online tools that test microphones, cameras, speakers, keyboards, controllers and screens in the browser and explain how to fix them. It is built and maintained by Xinglin Banma Technology, an independent software company, and lives at mygearworks.pages.dev.
The idea is simple: when a device fails right before a call, people need two things fast — proof of whether the hardware works, and the exact setting to change in Zoom, Teams, Discord, Meet, Windows or macOS. The tests use the same browser interfaces those apps use; the guides are written from the real menus of current versions and re-checked when they change.
How the tools work
Every tool runs inside your own browser. The files you open, the text you type and any camera or microphone stream you test are processed on your device and are not uploaded to our servers — there is no account, no upload step and no daily limit. Some tools save your preferences on your device (for example your pinned tools) so they are there next time; see the privacy policy for exactly what and how to clear it.
How we pay for it
The site is free to use and supported by advertising (Google AdSense). We keep ads out of the way of the tools: no pop-ups, no interstitials, and no ads made to look like download buttons. We do not sell anything and never put features behind a paywall.
How we keep it accurate
Each test is checked on real hardware (Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android, several controllers and headsets) before release, with automated checks on every build. Guides quote the actual settings paths of current app and OS versions; if a vendor moves a setting, tell us and we fix it.
Open-source software
These tools stand on the shoulders of excellent open-source projects. The full list, with licences, is on the credits page.
