How to measure stick drift
- Connect the controller and press a button so the browser lists it.
- Take your hands off and press Measure drift. For 3 seconds the tester records where each stick rests; the result is the resting offset as a percentage of full deflection.
- Under 5 % is normal and hidden by every game’s deadzone. 5–10 % needs a slightly larger in-game deadzone. Over 10–15 % means the stick is worn — see how to fix stick drift for cleaning, calibration and replacement options.
Circularity
Rotate a stick slowly around its full range: the trace should be close to a circle. A square or clipped trace is normal for some controllers (they reach ±1 in the corners); a lopsided shape means uneven wear.
Buttons and triggers
Each box fills as you press; triggers show pressure (0–100 %). Standard mapping: buttons 0–3 are the face buttons, 4–5 bumpers, 6–7 triggers, 8–9 Select/Start, 10–11 stick clicks, 12–15 d-pad, 16 home.
Troubleshooting
- Nothing appears: press a button (browsers hide controllers until used). On iPhone/iPad use Safari or Chrome with iOS 16+. Steam Input can hide a controller from browsers — close Steam or disable Steam Input for desktop.
- Wrong buttons light up: the controller uses a non-standard mapping; the labels follow the standard layout, so just note which box reacts.
- Vibration does nothing: only some browser/controller combinations support rumble (Chrome + DualSense/Xbox over USB is the most reliable).

Questions, answered
Does it work with PS5 DualSense and Xbox Series controllers?
Yes, by USB or Bluetooth in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Adaptive triggers and haptics are not controllable from a browser; basic rumble is.
Does it work with Switch Joy-Con / Pro Controller?
Pro Controller yes over Bluetooth; Joy-Con appear as two separate controllers.
My drift reads 0 % but my character still moves in a game.
The game has a smaller deadzone than the browser reading, or the drift appears only after warming up. Play 10 minutes, then measure again without releasing the controller.
